Advocacy Assistant Advocacy and Community Education
The Advocacy Assistant will coordinate and assist in planning of meetings and events to empower the Asian American community through advocacy, organizing and community involvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Help coordinate the organization's advocacy and budget campaigns;
Research, track and update city, state and federal legislations and resolutions pertaining to housing, immigration, and other issues of concern
Liaison with elected officials office to coordinate activities, meetings, events, programs, etc.;
Draft campaign letters, sign-on letters, fact sheets, etc., for the organizations campaigns and advocacy agendas;
Attend meetings, legislative hearings, and community board meetings;
Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelors required;
Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer expertise, ability to work on several projects simultaneously and independently;
Must be organized and outgoing with excellent writing, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with diverse staff.
Ability and willingness to attend evening and weekend meetings;
Bilingual in Cantonese or Spanish a plus;
Possess a commitment to the Asian American community and have the desire to empower the community towards a better change.
Compensation: $30,000 - $38,000; Health, dental and other fringe benefits
