Conference Overview

Asian Americans for Equality, Inc. (AAFE), in conjunction with National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (NCAPCD), the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), and Partnership for New York City will convene the second annual housing and community development conference in New York under the theme Crisis, Innovation, Opportunity: Impacting Local Development with Global Resources to examine the status of the country's economy amid recent financial and mortgage meltdowns and discuss their impacts on New York's immigrant communities and the city's key industries.

The conference will bring together a diverse group of over 300 experts, philanthropists, government officials, community leaders and entrepreneurs to share best practice models and experiences in housing, job creation and community development. The event will include high-level presentations from keynote speakers and facilitated group workshops on globalization, capacity building, increasing access to community and global resources, and achieving sustainability.

Conference Goals:

Provide a platform and network to outreach, learn and exchange information, resources, and experiences about trends, needs and contributions of Asian and immigrant communities;
Identify emerging issues, engender policy discussion, and develop new strategies and advocacy agenda in addressing, servicing and impacting Asian and immigrant New Yorkers;
Build new and strengthen existing partnerships with elected officials, community organizations, government agencies, foundations, corporations, educational and research institutions; and national intermediaries;
Enhance individual skills and strengthen organization capacity in community development.
