Asian Americans for Equality was proud to participate in this year’s Lunar New Year parades in Manhattan and Queens. All 70 AAFE staff members were part of the celebrations, as well as our Unicorn Team and family members.
Inspired by the Tai Pun Family Association, the AAFE Unicorn Team is the only group that regularly performs the Unicorn dance in New York City, and perhaps even in the United States. The team was started by the late Master Liu, a former AAFE Board Director and longtime community member, who learned the Unicorn dance back in his home village of Tai Pun. Master Liu created the Unicorn Team to mobilize all generations of our organization.
This year, following the parade in Manhattan the Unicorn Team went to area businesses to deliver a good luck card for the new year.
