On Friday, May 24, 2013, a group of advocates and service providers sent a letter to the New York City Department of Finance to express serious concerns about an emerging deadline for SCRIE revocation renewals.  The Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) is a program that can freeze the rents for eligible low-income senior citizens living in rent-stabilized, rent-controlled, Mitchell-Lama and Redevelopment buildings, HDFC co-ops, and Federally-assisted co-ops.  The NYC Department of Finance sent a notice (English only) to seniors explaining that their SCRIE benefit had been revoked.
