The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) awarded the “Top 10 Microloan Producers for Fiscal Year 2013 in the Number of Loans Originated” at this year’s training conference held from April 29 to May 1, 2014, in Detroit, Michigan.

AAFE affiliate Renaissance Economic Development Corporation was recognized for its 127 loans originated, through the SBA Microloan program, which placed Renaissance number 6 out of the top 10 Micro Lenders across the nation, out of 160 originators.

Amongst the Top 10, from all over the U.S., were: Grameen America, Inc. (#1); Justine Petersen H & R (#2); Business Center for New Americans (#3); Economic and Community Development Institution (#4); Finanta (#5); Renaissance Economic Development Corporation (#6); Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs (#7); Accion Texas (#8); Community Ventures Corporation (#9); and the Colorado Enterprise Fund (#10).

AAFE Executive Director Chris Kui said of the achievement, “Renaissance would like to thank the U.S. Small Business Administration for its support of our efforts, especially those we made in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy last year when we focused on assisting those whose businesses were severely damaged or completely lost.” He added, “Renaissance Economic Development Corporation looks forward to continued partnership with the SBA to provide affordable loans to entrepreneurs throughout New York City.”
