Free tickets for the premiere of a documentary film Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) has produced to mark the organization’s 40th anniversary have been made available to the public. The film, directed by acclaimed documentary maker Peter Hutchison, explores the growth of the Asian American civil rights movement, from its genesis at protests against discriminatory hiring practices and police brutality, to the next stage of advocacy when the groups that were forged in the midst of these demonstrations evolved into community development organizations committed to social justice.
AAFE, an organization born out of these events, is delighted to showcase the film on Tuesday, November 18th, 2014, 5PM at Tribeca Three Sixty, 10 Desbrosses Street, NY. The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with the filmmaker and a panel of Asian American activists, and a cocktail reception.
