The documentary AAFE produced as part of the organization’s 40th anniversary celebrations, Beyond Activism: Four Decades of Social Justice, is now available online. The film, directed by acclaimed documentary maker Peter Hutchison, explores the growth of the Asian American civil rights movement, from its genesis at protests against discriminatory hiring practices and police brutality, to the next stage of advocacy when the groups that were forged in the midst of these demonstrations evolved into community development organizations committed to social justice. AAFE, an organization forged during this period, premiered the film last week at the Celebrating Equality 40th Anniversary Gala.
