On Wednesday, Oct. 25 AAFE convened its 10th Annual Asian American Community Development Conference in New York City. It was a day of lively conversation, inspiring speeches and idea sharing.
Our keynote speakers were: New York City Public Advocate Letitia James; Carmelyn Malalis, chairperson of the New York City Commission on Human Rights; and award-winning journalist Juan González. Along with New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, who helped kick off the day, they set the stage for this year’s theme: Achieving Equality for All.
AAFE’s board president, Lydia Tom, and Executive Director Chris Kui received a proclamation from James. During the conference, participants also heard from State Assembly member Yuh-Line Niou, who represents Lower Manhattan.
Check back with us next week for a full wrap-up. In the meantime, see below for a few images from the conference.
