Dear Friends:

I am writing to let you know that AAFE’s long-time Executive Director, Christopher Kui, has informed the Board of Directors of his decision to retire, effective December 31st. I am attaching a copy of the press release we issued earlier today.

Doris Koo, AAFE’s first Executive Director, will return to serve as Senior Advisor and then become Interim Executive Director on January 1, 2018. Chris will remain with AAFE through the middle of 2018 and will work with Doris, the senior team and the Board during the transition.  The Board will soon undertake a nationwide search for a new Executive Director.

We thank Chris for his 31 years of dedicated service to AAFE, including 25 years as our Executive Director.  In the years that Chris has been with us, the organization has grown beyond all expectations, and has become a model, not only for Asian Pacific American communities, but as the standard by which community development corporations serving diverse populations of immigrants, mixed-income and underserved populations are measured.  His proven successes in building affordable housing, preserving thriving neighborhoods, and empowering communities   have made a difference in many people’s lives, and we are grateful for what will certainly be his lasting legacy.

If you have any questions or would like to talk about the transition at AAFE, please do not hesitate to contact me at LTom@enterprisecommunity.org.

Sincerely,

Lydia Tom

President, Board of Directors
