In the months since social distancing orders were put in place, AAFE has been reaching out to the community in a variety of different ways. This summer, we have debuted a series of Chinese-language radio segments to inform community members about important issues and to answer questions from callers.
These interviews, featuring different AAFE staff members, have covered topics related to obtaining affordable health care and SNAP benefits, avoiding pitfalls of homeownership during distressed economic times, securing emergency funding for small businesses, filing for unemployment benefits and dealing with immigration issues. In each radio appearance, we also provide information about fair housing laws — what tenants and homeowners need to know to protect their rights.
The segments air weekly at 4 p.m. on WZRC/AM 1480 (Cantonese) and at various times on the Chinese Radio Network, WGBB/AM 1240 (Mandarin).
