Francis Lam is Editor-at-Large at Clarkson Potter Publishers and a judge on Top Chef Masters. Starting his career at AAFE and later continuing at Alembic Community Development, Lam learned early on that social justice is about helping to give voice to marginalized or invisible people. His writing seeks to do that through the lens of food and culture, and he has been nominated for three James Beard awards and four IACP awards, winning three. In past lives, he was Features Editor at Gilt Taste, senior writer at, a contributing editor at Gourmet magazine (RIP) and his work has appeared in the 2006 – 2014 editions of Best Food Writing.
