    Our mission

The Youth & Family Development team fosters leadership and empowers low-income youths of color and their families. We develop politically conscious leaders who are active members of their communities dedicated to social justice and equity through a network of leadership programming, community engagements, and meaningful relationships.

    Our programs

COMPASS High offers project-based learning opportunities to 9th and 10th grade students, engaging them over the school year in skill-building activities and nurturing youth interest with opportunities for student voice and activism. COMPASS offers transition support and counseling services to help students stay on track until the 10th grade. Learn more about the COMPASS program here

AAFE CASTLE aims to empower high school students in the 11th and 12th grades to engage in service-learning projects and become agents of social change in their communities. Bi-weekly meetings (twice a week) aim to develop leadership skills and civic engagement experience. CASTLE youths also explore post-secondary options through workshops, college trips, and job shadowing. Learn more about the CASTLE program here.
