AAFE's 50th Anniversary Gala!

Take part in our unfolding story of advocacy 50 years in the making

Thursday, May 30, 2024 -Tribeca Rooftop, NYC

For fifty storied years, AAFE has persisted in advancing racial, social, and economic justice for Asian Americans and other systemically disadvantaged communities in New York City. This milestone occasions reflection on our unfolding journey: from the 1974 protests that gave rise to our grassroots organization to the present day, to what the next fifty years, and beyond will bring. We look forward to celebrating our special anniversary with you at our gala, where the incredible vibrancy of our community will be on full display.

Panelists include: AAFE founders Lydia Tom and Margaret Chin; AAFE’s first executive Director, Doris Koo; and Phil Thompson, former NYC deputy mayor and an early AAFE activist.

The evening’s festivities kick off at 6pm with a cocktail reception which will feature a photo exhibit highlighting iconic images by Corky Lee, five small businesses from AAFE affiliate, Renaissance Economic Development Corporation, and a dynamic visual display walking guests through AAFE’s five decades of advocacy and impact in New York City. At 7pm, our emcee, CeFaan Kim of WABC TV will lead off our program, recognizing AAFE Pioneers, State Senator John Liu, Enterprise Community Partners, our small businesses who persevered in trying times and today’s new generation of leaders keeping the dream alive!
